Adar

Because she is a wellspring of inspiration, kindness, and clarity.

I wish she were my rabbi, and I’m not even Jewish. Really, I’d gladly go to any service of hers. She rocks!

Because I’ve been reading her messages and inspired by her for a long time now.

We share an interest in Hebrew poetic forms. How many people can say that?

I was sitting in the row behind him on a Southwest flight from LA to Oakland. The guy next to him was delighted to be sitting next to a “celebrity” and trying to make the most of it. Brown was trying to work.

“So, how is it being Mayor these days, Jerry?” the fellow said.

“I’m not mayor of Oakland anymore. I’m Attorney General of the State of California,” replied Brown, looking determinedly at the paperwork he was trying to read.

“What does that mean, ‘Attorney General?’” said the guy, clearly clueless.

“It means I can have you arrested,” said Brown, visibly irritated.

“Oh.”

And then, silence.

She walks her talk.

My favorite memory of susankrlib involves a story I cannot tell in full.

Let’s just say it has to do with a vengeful ballerina, a nutty neighbor, and an ethical librarian.

Susankrlib was the ethical librarian.

I met Adar in July, when I was visiting the Bay area for a friend’s wedding… She was everything I expected her to be—kind, smiling, serene, and with a generous, gentle spirit underlying all she said… I hope to meet up with her again someday.

My Adar radar gave me strong signals prior to the 43T meetup, but meeting Adar in person confirmed that she’s a smart, contemplative, spiritual person. I thoroughly enjoyed talking for over 2 hours with Adar across the table from me. I look forward to meeting again.

She claims to be Socially Awkward (and perhaps that truly is how she feels on the inside) but she’s a clever, lively woman with a wide variety of interests and accomplishments.
